Tocal Field Days Announce Major Funding Boost for 2023 Event
Tocal Field Days have secured major funding from the NSW Government in what will be a significant financial boost to the Hunter Valley Agricultural event. The event, held annually within the grounds of Tocal Agricultural College is an integral part of the community.
Tocal Field Days Event Manager, Charise Foulstone said, “The funding is an amazing boost that will allow us to grow and develop an iconic and important agricultural event within the Maitland and wider community.”
Tocal Field Days is proudly supported by a $170,000 grant through the NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund which aims to support the social and economic recovery and prosperity of Regional NSW.
“Tocal Field Days has been a part of the Maitland, Dungog and Hunter for 39 years. We want to ensure the event is growing and evolving alongside our very important agriculture industry for years to come.” Mrs Foulstone said.
“It’s more than just an agricultural show. It is a chance for the community, farmers and industry experts to connect and share knowledge to support on- farm innovation, productivity and profitability. Tocal Field Days provides a platform that brings together our local farming, agricultural, tourism and hospitality communities to bridge the gap between country and city. Agriculture impacts society in so many ways. The support of the State Government is recognition of the economic impact the Field Days has and will allow us as a not-for-profit association to keep educating and reinforcing these messages and make our event more accessible to the public.”
Local MP, member for Upper Hunter Dave Layzell applauded the NSW Government’s decision to provide funding from the Regional Events Acceleration Fund for the Tocal Field Days.
“The Tocal Field Days are an event that attracts people from all walks of life from across Newcastle and the Hunter Valley as well as our neighbouring regions of the Mid North Coast and the Central Coast,” Mr Layzell said.
“Farmers get to talk business and see the latest equipment, families create memories when kids get up close and personal with animals, history buffs enjoy Tocal Homestead and the Paterson Public School P&C showcase small country school fundraising at its best.
“Its reputation as a ‘must see’ event will only grow further when more people take up the invitation to enjoy a day or more in the Paterson Valley.”
